Data protection (backup)
Data protection is the process of copying existing data to storage (mostly transportable) to keep them permanently. Data recovery is also known as backup or backup-copy. The recovery of data is also known as data restore or restore.
The requirements increase with the growing data volume. Time for data protection runs short and data restore time grows. Backup is done for effective and fast restore of data. The focus is on the restore process is important, because restore time is often higher then the backup itself especially if incremental or different backup stratagies are used. Restore time is high too because storage system read faster then write. The case of restore is often bad documented, because it happens rarely.
The process of restore is analog to backup.
