The growing dependence from companies of IT is shown in the consequence caused by downtime of a mail server. To minimize the risk of an unplanned downtime and to keep production data consistent, solutions are needed that combine real-time data replication and high availability.
SteelEye™ LifeKeeper® for Sendmail™/SAMS™ is such a solution. With the integrated possibility for Data Replication, High Availability Clustering and Disaster Recovery all levels of operation demands are addressed: replication of Sendmail data, mail stores and mail queues as well as monitoring and recovery of the whole Sendmail stack.
LifeKeeper conitinuous monitors the functions in the Sendmail or SAMS environment, with all servers, network connections, data volumes and processes. In case of failure LifeKeeper activates the recovery process. The configurable process can be restarting the Sendmail-Daemon on the same server (local Recovery). Does this fail LifeKeeper initiates the migration of Sendmail-Daemon to a backup server (Failover) or sending an alert to the administrator so the problem can be explored. During maintenance both applications - Sendmail and SAMS – can be migrated manual between the Clusternodes.
