LifeKeeper^® for IBM Rational^® ClearCase^® offers flexible management for platforms for software development. The ability to control, to manage, to collaborate and to communicate in development environment is combined with the availability of the based infrastructure.

SteelEye™ LifeKeeper^® for IBM Rational^® ClearCase^®offersintegrated monitoring and failover protection of the whole ClearCase enterprise on Linux including Registry Servers, Release Area, Version Object Base (VOB) and View Storage. LifeKeeper protects ClearCase services local or on the same server where the processes are currently running, or from a failed primary server onto a backup server.

To reach high protection several networkwide resources required by ClearCase must be acurately and automatically monitored:

License Server Host (one or more)
Registry Server Host (one, plus an optional backup server)
Release Host
a Registry Region
and extra Client Hosts

Example for an active/active Configuration

In this configuration both server - server A and server B - are primary server that protect active ClearCase components. Each server operates as a backup server for its cluster members.
Server A as primary server protects shared storage array for views and registry. Server B makes the backup.
Server B protects VOB as primary server, while server is it backup.

LifeKeeper monitors server functions and ClearCase processes and takes automated recovery action in case of failure. Client connections are seamlessly routed between nodes as needed to ensure constant availability of ClearCase operations to end-users.
