The Generic Application Recovery Kit is a part of the LifeKeeper basic component the Core Kit. The Generic Application Recovery Kit enables the protection of services or simple applications. It provides the protection of critical applications without a specific kit with LifeKeeper. Additionally the Generic Application Recovery Kit makes it possible to integrate additional services like backup or management agents into a LifeKeeper cluster.
To protect an application or a service using the Generic Application Recovery Kit, its only necessary to define a start and a stop procedure. After that the Generic Application can be constructed by use of the GUI.
Resources protected by the Generic Application Recovery Kit may be integrated to all LifeKeeper hierarchies. Only with the LifeKeeper Core Kit will it be able to protect IP addresses, volumes and applications using the Generic Application Recovery Kit.
